Concept
Lenscrafters is an optical retailer that focuses on providing high-quality vision care across the country. For more than 30 years, they have been innovators in vision care - continuously investing in new technologies to improve eye care, and committed to the people behind the glasses. The concept for this design was influenced by the client's commitment to people: those behind each pair of glasses. This modern and innovative store will welcome the widest range of users, proving that health and style are not mutually exclusive.
Design Intervention
Inspired by the brand’s commitment to people, innovative product design, and advocacy for vision care, I focused on innovation, texture, and inclusion as part of my design. Lighting in this space is meant to support way-finding and highlight unique design elements. Low-contrast lighting was chosen for this space to support way-finding, highlight the products, and emphasize design elements. Circulation paths are illuminated by minimalist fixtures that blend into the ceiling design. LED cove lighting accentuates the curves in the ceiling design to mimic the furniture and space layout below, provide gentle guidance, and encourage exploration of the vast retail space. Glowing and decorative pendants are prominent in areas of prime activity: cash register, virtual reality zone, and digital cafe. Additionally, advertising and products have been illuminated to entice clientele at the street level.
